Dammitt, Jerome...I got to lookin' for that l'il JVC you mentioned, one thing led to another, & now one is on its way to NE Tennessee...Had to be Sneaky, She Who MUST Be Obeyed gave me a stern Reamin' the other nite about Finances... But if what I spent Throws Us In The Creek, hell, we're there anyway...(grin)

Hi Sandy,

Congratulations! on bagging a JVC TM-P3.

You're learning one of the best virtues of miniature TVs: inbuilt wife detection defeating stealth! you can come home with a CT-101, TM-P3 or a Sony PVM-4000 4 inch color viewfinder and keep a poker straight face.

Tip: The parcel/box can pass as a photocopier spare selenium cylinder, as the H/W/D ratio is about the same. Better still, scrounge an old carton from the office, your supply or a friend's with an HP, Epson, Kyocera marking and store in your car's trunk. When you find the monitor of your dreams, hide in box.

The TM-P3 comes in two flavors:
- NTSC 525/30 USA with color & tint vontrol
- Euro PAL/SECAM 625/25.

Same size, same outside aspect.

The sony PVM-4000 has a super-fine trinitron CRT pitch and gives jaw-dropping beautiful pictures. The monitor is quite deep though (about one foot), as Sony opted for a very shallow 45° deflection angle to preserve perfect geometry.

Collect them all! they will get scarcer as LCDs massively take over Broadcast centres. Also enjoy what used to be multi thousand $$ pro electronics for a fraction of their original cost. If shopping and the monitor is sold as "working", ask questions before about dim (highly used CRTs) and the scond plague of ex-pro use: visible time code phosphor burn-in. If you're not familiar with that, think of old airport flight number display screens in public halls.
