I'm not really into too many 1980s sets, but for some strange reason I've always wanted to find one of these portable color Zeniths. They came in a variety of colors. (not just the pink - actually most of the ones I've seen were either red or white)

I had a light blue Zenith like that; but, the flyback was bad and I finally junked it. I think it was from the late '80's. I think there was also an AC/DC version.

I guess there's a market for just about anything. Passing by Martin Cadillac in West Los Angeles a few months ago, I saw a new 4-door sedan in the same old pale pink that Cadillac sold in the 50s. Horrible then; horrible now, in my book. But that's what makes the world an interesting place, I guess!

At that Cadillac dealership on Ventura near where I used to live in LA, a few years ago they had a big old pink '59 convertible in the showroom. I walked by and took a couple of pictures of it, because I thought it looked cool, that '59 sitting in the showroom with the original Cadillac sign still out front of the building, but that was before I had a digital camera, and I think I lost the photographs. I wouldn't actually go and paint one pink myself, but I don't think it looks too bad on those old Caddys.

Perhaps one of the more famous pink cars (other than celebrity Cadillacs) was the 1972 "Playmate Pink Pantera"... Picture on a completed eBay listing here. Local Ford dealers picked up on the idea, and there were a fair number of these on the road.

I never really cared much at first for my "Pink" Sharp, because it IS, well, VERY Pink. Took some ribbing over it, too. But they DO have excellent picures, are kinda neat lookin', in a "George Jetson" kinda way, & dammittall, even the Pepto-Bismol color kinda grows on ya after awhile. And you guys know I've always had a fondness for the Slightly Absurd anyhow...

I would say that's more Mauve than Pink.

Elvis had a Pink Caddy back in the 50's.

Adam, there's one on eBay now, in Calif unfortunately.
What's cool is the Ad he has with it, apparently these were called Zenith Custom Series "DeLights" Cherry DeLight, Almond DeLight etc..

I may go for that one. For some reason, every other time I've seen one of these on ebay it's always with some ridiculous $100+ bin price.

I don't know what it is with people and brightly colored table sets and ridiculously high BINs. Like there was this one time I saw this Philco 21" b/w orange table set from the early 60s called the "town and country," I really liked the looks of it, I think it was the model that replaced the seventeener. Same thing, ridiculously high bin, but they had an make an offer option, so I did, but he waited a week and then counter-offered me only $5 less than his original price, so I just let it go, but I've never seen another one.

Looks like that eBay Zenith is quite red. If you know someone near NY, there is a pink one on Craigslist over in that direction.

Phil Nelson

Does the Sharp swivel from side to side, or just tilt up and down on its mount?
