Man, I had a 1989 Sears that looked a helluva lot like that - sans the Krylon upgrade.

This little Magnavox on the 'Bay is pretty cute:

I suspect that few TV sets are sold in pink, but somehow doubt that they will become as valuable ($2000 or so) as the rare Lionel pink "girls train" set from the late '50s:

They'd have to pay me $50 to take it! BTW, I think that's a late '80's or early '90's Sharp TV.

In about 1985, there was a 13 year-old-girl who was squealing w/glee over this set.. Wasn't that about the time that "Hello Kitty" stuff was all the rage ? I've seen a couple of TVs platered w/that shyte, too, apparently from the factory...Anything to make a buck, I guess...

Correct: It's an '86 Sharp. Those also came as Capehart, DuMont, Montgomery Ward, and some other store brands. I saw a ton of pink ones like that at the time. In fact, there was a fad for pink TVs. Even Sony made a pink line, from 13" all the way up to the rear projection 36" KPR-36XBR console!

As far as collector value, the little 9" Emersons and 3" Sharps in pink, do seem to bring more attention when for sale. I don't know about a bigger one like that though.

If I wanted a pink TV, it would have to be the Quasar one from '84-'86 (model TP2156) with the remote control which was a miniature t.v. set. Had a red one and a white one, but never a pink. Still got the white one IIRC.

Those Quasars came in a number of bold colors as I recall, it would be cool to have a complete set of them.

The little 3" Sharp color sets seem to be very difficult to find in *any* color... pink must be very rare indeed!

I did, however find a pink 4" watchman to add to my flat tube set collection.

I have a Titty-Nipple Pink 3" Sharp & the ivory version, too...Think they were made in pink, ivory, black & silver....I'd think they were expensive little boogers at the time, that's why they're sorta rare now. The ivory one of mine needs to go see Terry, it has vertical height issues...Hope it ain't that Unobtainium IC chip fixing to die...

My fiance would love that set!

Sandy G sez:

I think the "Hello Kitty" rage was a little later...Amazon STILL lists the "Hello Kitty" (used):

About 2 or 3 years ago, I replaced the RF connector on one of those "hello kitty" TV's and I think it was a couple years old then.

I have one of those little 4.5" Rhapsody sets in pink, it's a Barbie item so I figured someday it might be collectible.

Edit: The make is "Jin Hai" not Rhapsody. :scratch2:

Some still put out colored tv's. Christmas before last, I got my daughter a pink Sony Bravia... it was available in 4 or 5 colors.
