Well, I am fortunate enough to own a pair of G-2000's, one of them was never sold and in new/unused condition. I am definitely not gonna tell them that one of their sisters has fallen.

Besides, it will make those few G's that are out there that much rarer and more valuable ultimately.

As it has been said before....you can't fix stupid.

Im going to go back a few years here, but someone about 4-5 years ago, perhaps longer, became a member on AK trying to tease the TV guys saying that he destroys old TVs because they are dangerous and hazardous to the environment. It was something along those lines and he created this rediculous picture which Im sure was photo shoped of a roundie on fire. If I remember correctly, he said he burns the TV's and we all shot back at him telling him the smoke from the burning TV was also harmful to the environment in order to use his own medicine against him. It was actually pretty funny even though the guy was a complete moron, much like the seller of this G-2000. Does anyone remember what Im talking about, or perhaps have a reference to that photo?

And I like those tektronix 500 series scopes (even though I'm currently having HV problems with my 545A).

Yea I remember that half-o'-nothin imbecile. If he truly cared so much for the environment, you'd think he wouldn't even use a computer. Seems like he posted drunk and/or high on drugs.....

Thanks for finding that, Adam. I got a good laugh reading that whole thing again! Too bad the pic is gone, maybe someone saved it, but I doubt it.
As for the tek scopes, yeah, I really like my 564. Best scope I ever had and I've had all sorts of interesting types over the past few years. I've got one of those mid 50's battleship scopes too, the 535. Those vintage Tektronix scopes rock solid and indestructable. The "Zenith" of test equipment.

The seller of the G-2000 chassis claimed that "they" loved the look of the cabinet as it would look good in their "retro room". Its your typical unjustified excuse to hack up a TV, but whatever. Its theirs, they can do what they want with it. I must say, its nice to see that there is no reserve on the chassis parts atleast.

All I can say is holy sh*t! That guy was/is disturbed and has absolutely no life. Funny read though, laughed my ass off. Hopefully the phosphor dust has done him in

Hmmm ...so who did what to whom, when, where, why, and how? Any good speculation for the seller to scoff at collectors? Sure, we're a hearty small dedicated group of diverse people. It's not like our homes are as seen on TV about those with hoarding syndromes ....hmmm, of course I'm not sure about that one. I can't recall the last time any of use posted threads about reaching out for psychiatric help ...but then again, maybe some of use would find better companionship choosing between a wife or a CT-100 with a good 15GP22...now that's is a tough decision for sure...! So, we ask ourselves, do we really understand the dynamics of the seller's intentions? I like to go through life accepting everyone as having positive intent, it just seems to make for a happier day. However, when I read a listing on the 'Bay displaying what seems like quirky behavior, it does seem a bit amusing. Not that collecting old TV sets isn't eccentric to those who don't, it does makes me wonder.

oh well.the laugh is on them.what was once something of rarity and beauty is now just a worthless pile of rubbish.good luck getting rid of this brainiac.on to new business and dont give these losers another thought.fools.they may have to pay someone to haul this stuff away.

I thought the question/answer was telling. I can give them the benefit of the doubt and guess: they overpaid for the set, realized they couldn't use it like they imagined, tried to sell it intact for what they paid (in a wishy-washy kinda way-did they ever put the complete set on ebay?) and when nobody showed up with a wad of cash they decided, well, heck, maybe the parts will sell for enough to recoup our investment? I guess some folks do that with certain classic cars. I don't know. It really is ashame, looks like it was very clean.

I emailed the seller on Ebay and made sure I was very polite in asking why they stripped out the TV. They actually replied very nicely! Here we go:

"Good evening

Thanks for your email. This TV is/was amazing and we had purchased it not exactly knowing what to do with it. Once we got it home we realized it was much more than we wanted to deal with as-is. We did list the TV on Craigslist and posted in chats requesting feedback... No one wanted us to take it apart however not even one person offered us what we paid. Very frustrating. We didn't purchase to upset anyone... we just LOVED the cabinet and thought the TV was super cool... the issue as you can imagine is that tube tv's are just getting too complicated with modern technology. My husband is a sound engineer and we really weighed the situation and finally came to the conclusion that vintage audio gear is truly irreplaceable and vintage televisions just don't hold the same value (obviously some do). Hope I am not babbling too much. Just wanted to let you know that A LOT of thought went into making the decision to strip this and we did so carefully so we could either store the parts or sell to someone who could use them. once we removed the tube we realized that this is much too large to store.
