If nothing else, it will at least give you a very large table to place smaller sets on top of!
Can you check the condition of the CRT before making the purchase? If the tube is weak, i'd pass on that 100 dollar price tag (unless you think you can easily find a replacement easily for a fair price). As Carmine pointed out, you'll have plenty of help here from others that have dealt with these sets. A few questions to ask yourse'f... 1. Do you have room for this beast? 2. Will your wife freak out? 3. Is your back strong enough?

LOL! This one need not be asked, it's safe to assume she will! But like Charlie said, if you can check the tube it would be a big plus. If it's good, I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

think I will pass on it, too big, and I am really trying to be a bit more selecitive and If I get another monster I want a tube set. Its not that I dont like SS I just like tubes better, something about all the glowing going on. I like to leave the backs off so I can look at them now and then.
My wife is def at the critical mass point on all these consoles, so I better make sure the next one will take care of my fix for a while... I have a possible lead on a VERY nice condition magnavox console with a color roundie (so I have been told). If I am going to get another monster I would rathter have that. The price is right (free) I just have to make a drive to TN to get it. in the mean time I am still searching for a floor or table tube color set, I think I can swing that one with out too much dancing... another project I would like to try would be to just build a tv set from scratch, as a science project with the kids. No tuner of course just a HV sweep video amp and detector. We started with the crystal set, then a 1 tube regen, the a 5/6 tube superhet. That one was fun, did it on a piced of wood with tube sockets and term strips. since no need for a tuner I think I could do that with a TV as well since no VHF anywhere. Where is the Motorola located? Perhaps one of the other guys nearby would be interested in it.
The Maggie roundie console for free sounds perfect! You can't turn down free roundies!!! Wish you luck on gettin that one!

That is not the link, but it is the same seller, I don't know why I cant find it again. for anyone that want to pursue this. He had it posted several months ago (the above link is only a couple weeks old as was the TV), I told him the Motorola would be a tough sell due to the size, and as far as the belvedere goes, I dont know where he got that price from. I told him it was a nice set, but hard to gauge the value since I have no idea of the condition of the electronics. therefore I could only offer him a real low number and take my chances on if the PT is good, IF's etc... He did not take it back a while ago. I have since lost interest in any more conosole radios, with TVs being my focus now. 500$ is crazy high for the radio unless he has had it fully restored, and even then I think that is way high IMHO The TV link had a asking amount of 100$ sorry I could not find it. This looks like the set I have in my garage that I've been going stir crazy about trying to find any information about. All I know about mine is it is a Motorola Solid State 100 stereo/tv console. It has a radio under the left top of the console and a record player under the right. It also has a tv in the front which is covered by two sliding doors. The tv has a dial on it and 4 or 5 push buttons. The power light is located on the front side of the frame in front of the tv and it lights up when I plug it in, but that's all it does. It is low to the ground and is on rollers. I'm trying to find out it's year and value

Ah-Hah! You're one of those guys!
The value is having one of them in your possession... that's it. Money wise, you can hardly give them away.... because they are so big.

Now what you could do is see if anyone here is local to you and maybe they can help you out as far as checking it over, and maybe even fix it for you to enjoy if for what it is. |

Reading back through this thread remind me of all the very cool, very informative, talented members that used to contribute to vk. These guys brought hard core tech and experience to the board, now it seems to be a non stop repeating threads about some recycle bin material sets I see 5 of every week on the curb.
I guess no matter what it is, looking back at the way things were will aways make a person who's eyes are open sad

yes. yes. we should all strive to live in the past, to live retro, to live in the utopia of the 50's and 60's --- a utopia that never existed ---
we should all go back to wearing mechanical wristwatches, twisted pair wired analog telephone service with rotary dial desk phones, drive those dinosaur rust bucket cars of the 50/60's that everyone salivates over and we should all have an outdoor teleevision tower and antenna and be limited to abc, cbs, nbc, and let us not forget the beloved and ever popular DuMont network |

Motorola Color Console
That is the first pic I have ever seen of anything similar to what I have. I'm searching for history and value of my Motorola Solid State 100 Stereo/color tv console. I'm debating on selling it or keeping it. Everything works. Here are some pics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
