"Here's a quarter. Go downtown and have a rat gnaw that off your face."

One of my favorite lines from any film ever!!

John Hughes mad some seriously great flicks. Like John Candy before him he simply went way too early.

Who can forget Candy's Uncle Buck trying to make breakfast or his 'Polka, Polka, Polka' bandleader in "Home Alone"? The man was a genius and he did some of his best work for Hughes.

I'm so sad about this. So many other directors get so much more credit, for overly pretentious movies that don't affect anybody's lives. John Hughes defined my generation, if anybody wants to know what it was like to grow up in the midwest in the '80s, there's no better source than watching The Breakfast Club. That might as well have been my high school.

My favorite movie of his was Some Kind of Wonderful. That was my life. In my mind, I was Eric Stoltz's character, chasing after the popular girl when it was my punk-runk-girl best friend who I really should have been after.

I literally watched this movie, called up my best friend Heather, declared my love and we dated for 7 years!

I always loved the music he used in his films!

Loved all those movies.

Loved the "Dong-er" and the way he let Grandpa know what happened to his "auto-MOBILE!"

R.I.P

What a shocker to me this is. Ever since I really got into movies going to High School in the 90s, he was up there on my list along with "Savage" Steve Holland of favorite 80s movie directors. Watching movies like Ferris Beuler's day off and the Breakfast Club as a teenager made them much more meaningful since I could understand the humour better than when I watched them as a young kid. Hats off to such a great director. He will be missed.
