I'm finding it interesting reading the various comments here- very glad we all have different opinions or it'd be a boorish thread.
My opinion was casting was right on, and although the soundtrack was far from groundbreaking, the use of the songs chosen was an excellent choice, and really caught me off guard. But if you ask my sister, she'd rather choose to watch Steel Magnolias or Fried Green Tomatoes or How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Different strokes!

I really really liked the movie, right up until they just grossly monkeyed with the plot (you who have read the series and seen the movie know exactly what I am talking about).
I am not a fan of an established work of print being "re-structured" for visual presentation. I'm talkin' to you, Peter Jackson!

Finally got around to seeing this one. Found it entertaining except for Mr. blues, johnson hanging out every chance he could. Put some pants on that man !
