The Watchmen
 

I just finished watching this movie on DVD. Having read some of the original comics and growing up in the '70s and 80's, the movie content was very familiar. I enjoyed the movie greatly; much more than I expected. It is very violent and exposes both the noble and the despicable sides of humanity. The dialogue is very consistent with the original comics. I really liked the sound track, too. Leonard Cohen performs a couple of numbers, Hallelujah and First We Take Manhattan. My Chemical Romance perform Bob Dylan's Desolation Row and really blows it out. Check out the movie - you may want to think about who you watch it with, though.

I went into this movie knowing nothing about The Watchmen but I still enjoyed it thoroughly. It was complicated but presented in away that even a Noob could still understand what was happening.

The music was used very effectively, I especially liked Dylans The Times They Are A Changin'.

I liked the movie, but I felt that they could have taken a few more liberties with the story for the shorter format of a feature film - especially considering that they changed the ending in a rather drastic manner. It felt odd to have been so carefully devoted to the source material, then veer suddenly off into a rework.

I thought the movie was very good.
Now that it is out on DVD it will be interesting to see if its popularity grows as more people give it a look. It is not your typical super-hero film but was pretty true to its source material which is I believe the only graphic novel to appear on Time's list of top novels of the 20th century.

Being the about the only DC series I ever read (Proto member of the Merry Marvel Marching Society) I thought they did about as good a job as they could in ONE FILM. This would've been perfect as a HBO miniseries or a trilogy like LOTR. One film was not enough time for character development etc...

Great movie, definitely not for the squeamish and kids..

I wish I had a Super power....:D Need to upgrade the Home Theater a bit.

Watched it Friday night. Thought it was pretty entertaining, and it sure was a visual treat in blu-ray on my new teevee.

It had to rock on BR!!

I was going to post a thread about this, but decided to search first, so here I am.

This was the first movie that I saw in the theaters in about 3 years. I've always been of the opinion that I'd rather wait for a movie to come out on DVD, where I can watch it in MY home, on my 46" LCD TV, with my stereo, and can pause it as I see fit, and eat or drink whatever I see fit, without the distraction of the far-too-numerous inconsiderate people out there.

Nevertheless, I absolutely loved this movie in theaters, recently rented it, and consider it one of my favorites. Should anyone else care, a couple of my other favorites include Fight Club and American History X.

I found this movie rather boring, my wife passed out after an hour:boring:. Jackie Earle Haley does not belong 10 miles near any super-hero movie. Guess he`s looking to re-kindle his bad-boy image from the "bad news bears" era. wansn`t believable then or now.

Got a little tired of seeing Dr. Manhattan`s blue penis dangle around. Maybe for some that was the only thing worth watching..................:thmbsp:

Fantastic film as far as superhero movies go.

Tired of two-hour long action figure toy commercials, scripts written to show pg-rated sex and violence to cater to the ever-important marketing segment of pre-teens and young teens, soundtracks tied in with marketing the latest RIAA decided next big thing in music, dialogue rift of quoteable quips, and paper-thin charactors and story lines as not to confuse an audience with no attention span, this movie was a thrill.

Despite what test marketing and money-oriented movie moguls might think, there's room for deep, damaged, flawed charactors, a storyline more about "getting the girl" and an "all-positive" ending, visual creativity, well-structured soundtracks of older tunes, and actors that aren't over-hyped (and perhaps over-paid) "A" listers.


This one makes it into the permanent library.

I thought it was a tad too long but otherwise a very visual movie and a very good soundtrack....

Something that was spelled out in the book but ignored in the movie is that Dr. Manhattan started off wearing black trunks. The further he moved from being human, the less he gave a damn about human customs, and he stopped covering himself.

I agree with Paul, Watchmen goes into the permanent collection.

I found it very entertaining. As far as the sound track, some good songs but not well placed and lacked the imagination that the movie demanded. The movie was better than expected, the sound track disappointed.
