I wasnt sure about the idea of making another movie, oh well will have to see it.
I am trying to get into enterprise since I have some of the box sets, but still havent watched it all *sigh*

Curious to see this take on the concept. Looks somewhat promising, but technology and special effects don't make truly good movies.
I like the idea of juxtaposing old and new -- I think that's more realistic. We may have computers but we still use paper thousands of years after it was invented. Sort of along the same lines as craftsman tool chests and hand tools used in BSG instead of turbo laser ratchet wrenches  I have been a fan since seeing repeats of TOS as a kid. I still catch the remastered TOS once in awhile and love it. TNG put me off at first, but then grew on me and was a big fan. DS9 I got into at first, then got bored with all the political crap, then followed the last couple seasons and liked it. I also really liked Voyager for the first couple seaons and maybe the last. Or so. I really enjoyed Enterprise as well at first... until they pulled out the old "hey let's mess around with time travel again" with one of their season finales. I never watched it again. I'm SO sick of time-based sci-fi showing up in Star Trek. Enough already. Cripes. I also suspect that there aren't any more sci fi stories left to tell without recycling old ST plots/stories. But may be I am wrong. Hopefully I am wrong. Maybe I am burned out on the old school sci fi thanks to Enterprise and the latest Star Wars films.  OTOH I loved BSG but that is a whole different ballgame. Maybe a fresh approach / vision for ST is what is needed. I deeply appreciate Gene R's original visions and I think the stories that came from the ST's so far have enriched us fans (and really culture at large). But maybe we're due for an updated look at the future. Michael

Seems to me that it will be missing one important thing:
CAPTAIN PIKE. He was first to command the Enterprise. Someone told me that they have sort of "re-written" Star Trek history. If they have, it will SUCK big time. I guess we will find out.

Get over it! Brannan and Braga have already rewritten Star Trek history, starting with the first season of TNG. At least with Enterprise, they tried and did a good job of tying together, the TOS with the TNG.

First off...don't tell me what to "get over"....that's rude.
Secondly...using time travel and alternate time scenarios to justify backstory differences can either be a good thing, or extremely cheesy. Like I said...we will see.
