I don't think Philco's from the hybrid era were the worst but they weren't the best. I had an all-tube Philco from the late sixties that worked great with very good color. Growing up some friends of ours had a nicer 25" Philco-Ford console that was all solid state & seemed to work well, though I didn't think the picture matched, say, an RCA. After about 1975 Ford sold the Philco consumer electronics line to GTE & I think those models are Sylvania clones.
