JVC AV-27CM3, not working after transporting home
I recently bought a 27" JVC CRT from 1992 (Model AV-27CM3). At the seller's house, the TV turned out without issue and the picture looked good. I then transported the TV in my vehicle to my house 2 hours away. I transported the TV screen side down in the back of my SUV. I didn't hit any major bumps while traveling. As soon as I got home, I carried the TV in my house, plugged it in and now it doesn't turn on. When plugged in, there is a red standby light that turns on and is constantly lit. Pressing the power button doesn't make the light flash/blink or turn the screen on. I have taken the boards out of the TV and I don't see any blown capacitors or bad solder joints. I also reconnected everything after inspecting the boards and it still doesn't turn on.
What is mostly likely the issue? Could this simply be a weak capacitor in the power supply causing the TV to not be able to start. Could bad solder joints cause the TV to not turn on. The previous owner told me that the TV wasn't used much. The inside of the TV is clean and there aren't any dark marks on the circuit board that you commonly see from a CRT that was moderately to heavily used. |

Sure. Of course it could prevent the TV from turning on if a joint is broken.
That would be my bet. Make sure you check for fuses. Then start tracing the power from the input to the rest of the set. Power supplies and locations will be in the service manual. |

What happens when you press P+ or AV on the front buttons or remote? Usually these TVs don't turn on from the power button in my experience. Just pitching in my two cents.

Try warming the power supply area with a hair dryer. Sometimes marginal caps stop working completely when cooled off after being unplugged.
