Eico 369 project started!
Due to the fact that I have so many sets with the older style front end, that are working, but can do with an alignment for optimization, I went out and got a used parts/repair Eico 369 gambling on that the seller really did not know anything about it, and it was a good candidate for restoration, ( it is! ), and also knowing that an extensive multi part video was posted about one a few years back. ( bandersen).
Now I have not started any work on it yet, other than confirming it does power up w/o any problems and seems to be doing something! I have the rebuild kit which has all needed parts, ( quality caps, cheaper that getting them from Mouser), this kit includes a silicone diode to replace the selenium diode CR1 in the sweep width circuit, as it was mentioned in the said video, this circuit can be problematic, needing tweaking of the resistors to get correct width, so before I even start this project, the question is, CR1, leave it selenium or change it to a new diode? Won't a new diode change the characteristics of the circuit? Then again, the selenium diode is most likely old and starting to degrade. :O
