Ditto what Zeno said about the ss damper diode. It was THE BIGGEST failure point when those sets were new. The replacement was a paralleled double unit and seemed to hold up OK.

That CTC22 was an oddball in it's day with that low voltage focus and semi hybrid design, I had the factory study guides and recall the mention of the damper diodes in the fuse clip. It's the set mentioned in the back schematics of the RCA Receiving Tube manual and it gives an excellent breakdown of the circuits, far better than the Sams in that respect.

The specific RCA Tube Manual which contains the schematics and discussion of the CTC-22 chassis is RC-30 and was copyrighted in 1975.
