The article seems to think BetaMax equals BetaSP...

Took em long enough. Most people turned their back on beta years ago. I remember one episode of "Married with Children" where they they had Beta but were jealous od the D'arcys and went over and stole their VHS. They laughed at them for still using Beta.

I did not know they were still making them except for the pro betaSP tapes.I thought they killed the consumer blanks back in the late 1990's.Calador's and Circuit City were the last ones to carry the tapes here in the states,I haven't seen fresh blanks since then. I agree I think the writer of this artical is confused and mixing up the pro and the consumer tapes.
I hate when the VHS supply runs dry.I still use them daily. |

Professional Betacam decks were in our ship's TV studio in 2000/2001 - I thought (incorrectly) they were 8mm. AFRTS distributed some video products by Beta, and that's why they had them, along with recording ship/studio-produced programs.

I remember my friend was using Betacam into the mid 2000's before they went digital.I have some tapes here but no decks or camcorders. Yes .Walmart still carries VHS here in town and I think Target still has them. The dollar store and BJs drop them a couple years ago. |

Yes thats whats here at Walmart where they keep the blank DVD's .They have the Memorex brand with a inflated $14.99 price tag for 5 of them. I still dont believe they still carry blank cassettes at Walmart.I think they were Sony. |

I recently seen blank VHS and a cleaner at the K-mart in Waynesboro VA. They were not cheap though, I think $7.99 for 1 if I remember right.
