I saw a Magnavox version of this unit at a local flea market recently, it was completely gutted except for the record player, so I'm not sure why they gutted the stereo receiver out of the unit (the TV I could understand) but the stereo?

From the looks of the one you spotted it looks to be possibly a remote control model (the TV.)
