Why would the lack of aluminization shorten the life of the tube? A properly adjusted ion trap prevents burn in while the emission is unaffected by the lack of an aluminum screen coating. I have aoriginal 8DP4 in my little RCA metal cabinet set and it is still very bright.
I have always liked those little Emersons especially because of the included radio. That woud have been a perfect bedroom TV back in the day.
