Get a neon lamp tester, the simple kind with two leads used to check for presence of AC.
Then hold the lamp part only close to the HV rect tube (3A3?) cap, if you have glow, try the red anode lead to the CRT. If you get glow both places, you have a video (to the CRT guns) issue. If not, go back to the horiz output tube cap, no glow, change both it and the horizontal oscillator. What is the chassis number a D11?, I probably have a schematic. As for the radio, I could use half a can of contact cleaner on the pushbuttons and pots. I bet that sounds great. Good luck, I agree these were better than RCA in those years.

this is the year sylvania sets started getting noticed.we saw several when mr.dixon took us to sun tv and lazarus to compare the latest sets.zeniths were still tops but sylvanias were very close almost a tie.mr dixon said it was notjing more than the crt.the circuitry wasnt near as good but sylvania produced a fine picture tube.he commented that a zenith set with a sylvania crt would be the perfrect set.we did this back 1977 when a flat chassis zenith was mated with a 25vdmp22 sylvania balck matrix crt.he took it home with him!

or a sylvania with a rca tube, right? U got me curious about sun tv, i did some research on them. Looks like they had a lot of luck expanding into rural areas for decades. Then it appears they went public, expanded rapidly and then went bankrupt. Sad story for a more than 50 yo company |

GTE had such notoriously bad phone service, at least around here, I wonder how many sales Sylvania lost because of it.

sylvanias were always moderately priced.usually 20-25 percent less than a good rca or zenith.from the hybrids up to the last delta guns and early inline consoles, they were pretty good sets.the weakest link was the 25vdmp22 crt.it produced the finest picture but its life was short.however, once sent to companys like vdc, these picture tubes lived on for years.gte phone service was actually ok until the mid 80s.got terrible after that.here in columbus,a 70s era zenith or rca can be found occasionally.a sylvania? out of the question.of the thousands sold here by their largest distributor, none survived.havent seen but one set in the last two years.that one was a combo
