motorola? Zenith?

He's got it listed with no price, says the tv needs "work", which of course means the tube is probably shot.

Offer $15?

He has no price.

It's a Zenith, $15 would be a little insulting IMO but who knows, some people just want those big things out of their way.
If you can test the CRT first that would be good.
It has a Cataract but that can be fixed.

Ad states turntable and radio work fine, tv needs some work. google tells me, this is now the third time he has it listed.

Those are very nice performing sets, this one looks like a late '63 early '64 model. I really like that cabinet too. Offer 40 bucks for it......

I doubt that, too. He just wants you to cough up more cash.

There was a very similar set in a local thrift store a year or so ago that sat there for 3 months at $25 before I even saw it. I had no way to haul it, or it would have been MINE.

People say that kind of crap to me all the time. When they tell me that someone offered "x" amount, I tell them that they were stupid for not taking it and I walk off. You will likely be wasting your time dealing with this one.

BTW, the TV is all tube and it's quite possible that the stereo is tube, as well.

Yes, the stereo is all tube as well. PP 6BQ5 most likely. 200 is too much for a set that needs a lot of work, restored is another story. Because I really like it, I would offer him 100 and if don't take it, oh well those "200 and up" people can have it. That's just me though, really, like anything it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. People say that crap to me too, times are tough and everyone is looking for a buck. If someone offered 200 for my Zenith combo I'd say come get it!

I concur. I HATE dealing with people that just won't name a price. When I hear the "I've been offered"... I just want to deliver a swift kick.
IMO.. a roundie with a GOOD 21FJ is worth 100.00. ( if the set is shot, we can always use that tube in something else) If we can get the set for less...Bonus!
However.. when said set is a combo, it better be mint. They take up too much space and weigh to much for me to screw with.
I just "cleaned house" and sold 2 roundies for 275.00. (total) BOTH had low hour replacement CRT's and the flybacks had been replaced. I had replaced all bad tubes, and one was a brand you don't run across every day (Sylvania). The sets, for the most part were working, but that was about top dollar, for a pair of 60's sets, so to get to the point... a combo with a tube that has delaminated, is NOT worth 200.00.

If I were to pay much money for a TV like that, I'd want to check the CRT to make sure it was still good. Unless you get lucky, those roundie color CRT's are getting scarce and expensive.

I fixed an Atwater Kent console radio for a couple of younger guys. When they picked it up, I told them to please let me know if they ever wanted to sell it. They asked what I'd be willing to give and I think I offered them $100 to which whey claimed that some guy offered them $1500 and they turned it down. I told them that they'd better track him down and see if he was still interested. Within a few months, their house burned to the ground and that radio was probably in it.

There's no dealing with people like this. Where do u even start? The cataract will go away with an adjustment? That is just flat out lying. People are offering $200 sight unseen, yeah sure.

Reminds me of the old days with used cars when i was a teen. Every problem with a car can be solved with a tune up. Yep, transmission is shot, some new spark plugs will fix it. Piston rings are shot, $10 in spark plugs will fix it. Clutch is shot, u guessed it, a tune up will fix it.

As far as vintage tv's yep, a slight adjustment or a $4 tube will fix it. If it was that cheap or easy, they would fix it themselves and keep it, or fix it for $4 and get some real cash.

I;m not even sure with this sellers stupidity and dishonesty, i would take it at any price. He doesn't even know it's a zenith.

I would go $150 it it was mint, and no CRT issues, which means i show up and u have an rf converter hooked up, and there are no picture issues at all.

With the cataract issue alone, i think anything higher that $50 is too much.

and i'm thinking this set has a whole lot of issues.
