BTW, is there a fuse inside the CR70?
Mine does have an orange wire nut and I'm guessing that something may have been altered.

Carl,

I have two of these things. One has already made its way to Florida; I am moving from MD to FL. I checked my beat up one and the insides look NOTHING like yours! Obviously, Sencore made a change somewhere in the run. I do remember the one in Florida looking like yours and I "Thought" there was an orange wire nut in mine as well. But don't take that to the bank.

Here's the inside of mine and it's different that yours as well. I don't see any fuse in there.
I found a date code of 8136 (36th week 1981) on one of the ICs

Bob,

That is what mine looks like inside. Yours is in nice condition; mine is rough. Carl's picture looks like my other one. Interesting? Looks like your model has a choke in addition to the power transformer?

This is what piqued my interest about a fuse:

The tag mentions "fuse holder" but obviously there is no fuse holder. Maybe someone put the tag on the wrong piece of equipment.
