That's wild. And no mention of the type number.

My thought too. Somehow, I think this seller will be disappointed at the lack of (non-sarcastic
) replies to the post!

It's also an engineering sample so could be something weird. I believe the way their selling it (taking bids) violates the craigslist rules.

If it is a developmental color tube(or a 15GP22) it may be worth that to someone. Otherwise they maybe lucky to get 1/10 the price. It is amazing what some(crazy?) people think some mass produced and easliy obtainable items they've never seen before are worth.

For that much I would at least want a picture of what's in the box

I'd want to see it presenting a nice picture on its screen, in a fully restored vintage TV set. Like a CT100 (if it's the one that goes with that set)

The price is reasonable for a 15GP22, yes.

Come on, a 15GP22? I doubt it. And if it is, what are the chances that it still holds vacuum??? "Good Luck, Seller..."

The word "Aluminized" is on the box....wouldn't that imply a B&W tube? Sorta kills any hope if a 15GP22-like tube if I'm right

Yes...you're right. I can just about make it out to the lower right of the RCA logo. Not clear, but definitely looks like it says "Aluminized".

I am reasonably close by if I can help in any way with this transaction.

Think about it...every single model of CRT that RCA ever made must have had several engineering samples issued. The seller is just an idiot who thinks it's the first picture tube ever made.
I swear, even around here all kinds of vintage stuff is popping out of the woodwork on CL, with ridiculous prices. I think people are getting desperate... |
