My Mitsubishi DLP cost slightly over $1k and it came 3D ready. I need to spend about $150 I'll be able to watch 3D over Directv. I think they'll only have three channels to begin with, one a demo channel.

My mistake was recently buying a Samsung Bluray player instead of waiting. The firmware can be updated, but I doubt that they'll provide a 3D upgrade when they can use that to sell new players. I can't imagine they'll cost $1K more than the standard Bluray though.
