Please explain The Happening

How were Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel & that kid able to avoid the happening? Everone else they came in contact with died. Is trying to figure this even worth typing this out? God, that movie was crap.

Most of M. Night Shyamalans movies I've seen are pretty much crap. However, that being said, I love them. Sort of like the Evil Dead movies, I don't try and think about them too much, as they don't ever make sense but are entertaining.

The reason that Mark, Zooey and the kid weren't effected is that the event was actually over just before they went outside to meet. Something like it was over at 9:45 and they went outside at 9:58.

I enjoy them because for the most part I can watch them with my 10 year old daught since there is usually a lot of goosebump scaryness and very little goryness.

The Village was a fun one as well. Now the Sixth Sense was on a whole different level. That was a great flick all the way around.

I really liked Unbreakable even though it was kind of slow. Loved the 6th Sense like everybody else. Thought Signs & The Village were crap, didn't see Lady In The Water & waited to see The Happening on cable. I think he has talent as a director - very good visuals, but his dialogue is horrible. I wish he would direct somebody else's script.
