Westinghouse Color Console - Videokarma.org TV - Video

I dont know if its of any interest to anyone out here in Phoenix,but I saw a Westinghouse rectangular color tv with a very nice cabinet.I think the model number was 3911(cant remember the two letter prefix).Id say its late 60s to very early 70s.Someone had written on the back cover,"as is",so I dont know if it works.Its at the GW at 35th ave and Greenway.I think they wanted 29.99 for it.

Thanks for posting, hopefully someone close will save it from the dump. Not many Westys of that vintage around I don't think.

A set I would drive a couple hours for...but not cross country, I'm afraid! These do seem to be rare-I don't know that any of us on here have one? I think the chassis will be the same as a Magnavox.

I've had a few Westinghouse color consoles from the 60s, and they have unique chasses. They're definitely kind of rare. I wonder if this could be the EXTREMELY rare 22" color console from '55?

I wish I had taken a pic of it when I saw it.Im thinking late 60s,because it had a large rectangular button at the top that was some kind of color guard or something.The console,which seemed like standard 60s to me,with a small wood cabinet,and four legs,and when you looked at the back,the bottom area was hollow.Very nice shape for its age.

You'd have needed new underwear if you had been in an alley in Chatsworth, CA in the late 80s.... I know I almost did, when I found one of those! Beautiful condition too. And the tube is OK! It hasn't yet been restored, but it's present owner is planning on having one of the other AKers work on it when he has time.

The console being discussed here reminds me of a late-'60s Westinghouse all-channel color console my aunt had. Hers had a 25-inch CRT, IIRC, instant-on, no remote, and it was in a cabinet very much like the one you guys are talking about. The UHF tuner was set up so the UHF dial appeared when the VHF tuner was set to the UHF position; the VHF fine-tuning knob doubled as the UHF channel selector as well.

I'm not sure who was making the chassis for Westinghouse TVs in the late 1960s, whether they were RCA clones or actual Westinghouse-built sets. Judging from what I remember of the control-panel layout of my aunt's TV, with the push-to-tune UHF selector and the three thumbwheel controls for color, tint and brightness, I would be tempted to say the set under discussion here is a CTC-15 or later clone. I doubt, however, if RCA itself built the chassis; my best guess is that Warwick Electronics did.

Are you refering to the 21" rectangular tube set from around 1955?

I kept it for about 10 years, and it now belongs to another TV collector here in Los Angeles. It's the 22" tube, which is the rectangular one. It may have been advertised as a 21". I think there's a picture of it here someplace... I'll take a look. They made the same style set (same chassis?) with a 21" round tube too, and those may be as rare as the 22EP22 version.
