6 blinks is low B+ or over current protect. Sony manual suggests looking for loads on the +5 line.

7 blinks is loss of horizontal sweep.

I hate the blink codes, because half the time the steer me 180 degrees from where the trouble is.

I keep a couple of those MCZ3001 chips around at all times. IIRC, in this set, one is used to make the B+ supplies, and the other is the HV drive. Not like real TVs where the HV and horizontal sweep are the same circuit.

Those chips seem to go intermittent a lot. My first time troubleshooting a set with them I just about went nuts.
