Did anybody have the chance to see the movie Walk the Line about Johnny Cash and his wife June Carter tonight on CBS?
I watched it and its a pretty good movie. Showing how he started out and how he recovered from his drug addiction and everything.

I saw it on DVD. It is a great movie. How bad did CBS butcher it, in order to fit all the commercials in?
<RANT MODE = on>This is another reason I hate network TV and cable/dish. It is NBA Finals week and NOTHING is on! The showing of this movie is another example of lack of fresh content.<RANT MODE = off>

It looked like a great movie. I watched what I could, but my wife is a remote hog.

Oh God no... go rent Johnny Cash: The Man, His World, His Music if you want to see the real deal.. you'll ruin all the mystique of the guy if you watch that stuff.
Or rent that one Walk Hard, the Dewey Cox story... much better than that bastardized Cash movie or the other piece of crap "Ray" with the guy from "In Living Color" as Ray Charles... ouch! Last edited by mid-fi-ry; 06-02-2009 at 12:12 AM. |

Possibly. They were crappy pictures. A best actor Oscar isn't indicitive of a good picture, some pretty crappy ones have won that award---Gladiator, Training Day, As Good as it Gets, Forrest Gump, Scent of a Woman, Rain Man, Color of Money, Judgment at Nuremberg, Kramer vs. Kramer, Charly, Watch on the Rhine, High Noon...... Now as far as oscars go, well they are chosen by people in the industry. You are right though, they are not indicative of a good movie. There is even some campaigning involved. Crash was heavily promoted for oscar consideration, and it won.

Yes, but, what is crappy about, "As Good As it Gets"?

I think the core disagreements here center on the fact that "good", "entertaining", and "Oscar winner" are not synonymous.
