Ishiro Honda's 'Atragon'

I am a fan of the genre, but I give Atragon a

It was defintely a boring movie with less than stellar effects, especially for a 60's Toho flick.

Just finished watching Carnegie Hall. Not much of a plot, mostly an excuse to show case some of the best talent in the world. Featured appearances by Rise Stevens, Lily Pons, Gregor Piatigorsky, Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Reiner, Artur Rubenstein, leopold Stokowski, Harry James and many others.

It's worth watching just to see Piatigorsky and Heifetz.

War, Inc.

John Cusack, Dan Akyroyd, Joan Cusack, Marissa Tomei...

This is a total spoof on War Profiteering. Some of the laughs require you to have a working knowledge of the goings on of companies like Haliburton. The main company entity in the movie is a company called Tamerlane. I'd have to say it's kind of a smart comedy, but at points is almost ridiculous, but in a way isn't a company like Haliburton ridiculous? I'll give it a

Just rented the new "Day The Earth Stood Still"

Totally blown away with the suckiness of this one.

It has so little in common with the original that they might as well have changed the title to "Keanu Phones In Another One". The original was a subtle morality play with tinges of sci-fi while this one was a SFX orgy that bludgeons you to death with green issues.

It's like they took a classic car, took off the radiator cap, put a new car under it, and put the radiator cap back on.

Have to agree on Day the Earth Stood Still. I rented it because we usually watch Cruise movies but

I watched Serenity (2005) which was a sequel to the Fox sci fi series Firefly. It was kind of a fun sci fi romp with space battles and marauding cannibalistic berzerkers. And Summer Glau was in it. I've had a crush on her since seeing her as a Terminator in the Sarah Conner Chronicles (if I were to die by machine, I'd want it to be her). I'd give Serenity a thumbs up if you don't expect high brow cinema.

No Cruise in that one, are you thinking War of the Worlds? I actually liked WoW contrary to popular opinion.

Recently watched "The Queen" with Helen Mirren who won best actress for it. I thought it was a very good film that helped me put the Princess Diana aftermath in perspective. Of course I am mildly in love with Ms Mirren despite her being twice my age so my opinion is skewed in her favor.

Just finished watching A Fistful of Dollars, starring the one and only Clint Eastwood. If you think westerns are all old and stodgy, this movie will change your opinion. I thought westerns were bad/tacky before I watched this on the recommendation of my friend, and it was very good. Great plot, and lots of action. Sergei Leone is an excellent director.

Yep, you're right, WOW is what I was thinking of.

MisterFishey, I envy you, because you get to watch Clint's spaghetti westerns for the first time. I recommend The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

I plan on watching that after I watch For a Few Dollars More, so I can have seen the whole trilogy in order. Looks to be good quality movies, very highly rated on IMDB.

No Country For Old Men

I had already seen it when it was in the theatres, but just had it dropped off by Netflix. Definitely a must see movie. Another Coen Brother Masterpiece!

The original BBC series of "State of Play."

Great, great series but I did have activate the captions so I could understand the always-adorable Kelly MacDonald.
