Cloverfield

Since I am a big scifi fan, Decided to give this flick a view. First of all, Your watching through a guys video camera, Just like we do at family gatherings etc. The problem is the "Shaking" throughout the movie, The first 1/2 hour is rough, But hang in there, This is to good to eject. It's a story told over and over, Alien loose in the city, But since it's being documented by these 20 something friends, I pulls you into their saga. A clever way to present a story IMO. Pretty entertaining stuff, Definitely worth a look.

The trouble is I never cared about ANY of those people and looked forward to each one's demise. Well, one of the girls seemed pretty cool. The payoff after waiting to see what the monster looked like wasn't really worth it though.

I'm still not sure what the monster looked like.

Yea, I just watched that one the other day. The Mrs would have none of it - she gets car sick at times so..........

I thought it was entertaining to say the least. I liked the guy who operated the camera. He cut the tension and had a few good one-liners. Better than I anticipated as a friend told me he didn;t care for it. Of course coming from somone who had to see the latest Saw movie in the theater so I take his taste in movies with little merit.

The day I saw it I had a blinding migraine. I went anyway as it was my son's birthday and I rode herd on him and his 5 buddies. The filming technique was pretty tough to take in the first 15 minutes. Either I got used to it or it was scaled back as it went along. It seemed like the shots were steadier anyway. I was pretty good until the last 10 minutes when I got very ill. (We're talking get ready to blow chunks ill!) Sometimes that is the end result for me and a migraine. But, the last 10 minutes are the most intense of the film. The remainders are in the helicopter and everything is going along swimmingly and....... I was stuck between "Get up and get out NOW!' or see the end of the film. I mustered whatever inner strength I had, made it through to the end and, held onto my contents. Definitely an interesting way to experience a movie. Even with the above going on I liked this movie quite a bit.

Utter Tripe!

Let me preface this with "I've always been a Godzilla Junkie...Obviously". I went to see this in the theatre with the hopes of getting to see a New Giant Monster Movie with today's Tecnology that would help erase the memory of the botched Tri-Star Godzilla. Instead, I got Blair Witch! I wanted to see a high tech battle, not a sappy story of trying to save their friend! And what made it even worse is the theatre was packed and I had to sit within the first few rows and I felt like I had vertigo the entire time. I would have to look away to let my eyes calm down.
Next time they need to actually make a monster movie, not a sci-fi soap opera.

I rented this flick last night. Pretty good actually. I liked that you the viewer are watching the film thru the eyes of someone that found the tape.

Two questions for those that have seen it:

1. Why is it called Cloverfield?

2. The girlfriend Beth that they went back to get was run-thru (impaled) on rebar in her apartment. After the three lifted her off that steel, how could she muster the strength to not only run down the street only moments later, but also not bleed to death?

1. Have read Cloverfield was the codename the producers gave it during filming, And it leaked out, So they kept it. JJ Abrams company is on a street in LA named Cloverfield. Take your pick.

2. Well it is just a movie, But if that thing were coming, I'd be haul'n ass too!

BTW, Have read a sequel is on the way.
