Believe it or not, my wife and I just finished watching the hokiest, stupidest, corniest most over-the-top fantasy/sci fi film I think was ever made:
FLASH GORDON

And we loved it. I mean who can hate Max Von Sydow playing Ming The Merciless? Everyone hammed it up so much in this film there's enough to supply 10,000 people with a heck of a Christmas feast. Bright colors, preposterous costumes and incredible set design all come together to make a glittering, eye-searing adventure that you just can't not like. And Queen's soundtrack perfectly fit the atmosphere of the film. If you haven't seen FLASH GORDON, you're missing out big time.

Saw that last night too!

Woman - "You smell like liquor!"

Hancock - "That's 'cause I been drinkin' bitch!"

---

Hancock - "No one remembers that."

Ray - "No, only Greenpeace....& Walter."

First half was definitely better for me than the second but I actually think it was one of Will Smith's better acting jobs.

Beer for my Horses.... Really cool movie, with lots of cool cameo's.. and it was cool seeing Nugent in a movie..

Then as soon as I was done with that, started watching Jackass 2.5.. now there was some funny shit in that.. but I had to take off so didn't get to finish it.. I will probably in the next couple days...

I watched "A Beautiful Mind" on TV a few nights ago. It's still great the second time through. Fantastic performances by Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly. At the expense of my manliness I will admit I got a bit teary towards the end. Especially the scene when he receives the pens from his colleagues.

5 thumbs-ups

Slumdog Millionaire

"Slumdog Millionaire" - awesome film, great story. It's nice to see a well-acted film with people you've never seen before instead of the usual overused hollywood gang.

No Country For Old Men

I never knew who Javier Bardem was until I saw this movie. Fantastic actor as was all actors and actresses. Directed by the Coen Brothers, this movie is about a drug deal gone wrong involving the local law man, the person who stumbles upon it and the life choices he makes all the while avoiding a sociopathic hitman.

Going to take the wife to dinner & then see this on base tonight.

Saw The Spirit the other day. Just plain dumb.

Watched Glitter last night. Not especially good, but not as bad as the bad pub.

"Milk"

Went with my oldest son to see "Milk" yesterday. Great movie. Nice '70's era shots from the Castro District and San Francisco at large. Taught me me about a bit of history I knew very little about. Highly recommended.
