One article I read stated that all the lead spread around from 60 years of leaded gas would be an issue long past all our lives. But where is the proof? Pretty easy for a number-crunching scientist to come up with devastating figures.

Several decades ago there was a guy, overseas somewhere, who became famous for eating very strange things. Apparently he would break them up in tiny pieces and chomp away. You can read Ripleys or maybe the Guiness Book for more details. At one point he ate a television set. I have long wondered how he dealt with the lead & the glass, among other things.

I caught the tail end of that 60 minutes piece; I recently spoke with the gentleman who heads up the local recycling program and his biggest concern with old electronics was that somehow they would end up in one of those third world deathtraps.
