Circa '73 Zenith color console on epay

This is not mine and it's too far away to make it mine. Hopefully, someone on here is close enough to save this Zenith. I'm sure this is a hybrid set. It looks too nice to throw out.

I would have thought that was a common TV set, as its a simple lower end model, but I never see those anywhere! I had one that was a parts set, exact same cabinet and used the 20CC50 chassis, which was a mostly tube type chassis.

Whomever gets that TV will have a good one, if it's working well. One of my great-uncles had a Zenith TV almost like the one under discussion here, though his was perhaps a year older (he got it in 1972, IIRC) with a slightly different cabinet and control cluster (the knobs on this one look slightly different from the earlier models). My great-uncle's Zenith served him well, requiring only one major repair--the CRT screen cracked diagonally after only six months, probably due to a design flaw. However, the new CRT worked well until the day the set was replaced with a Zenith solid-state Chromacolor II 25-inch console several years later.

BTW: I'm not sure, but I think the set being discussed in this thread may be 100 percent tube powered. I believe the 1972 model of this set was all tubes as well. I don't know when Zenith went from all tubes to hybrids; may have been in the late '70s.

I believe '75 was the very last year that Zenith built a color TV using tubes. That particular model was a 4-tube hybird (horiz. output, damper, horiz osc, vert. output). The rest of the set was solid state.
