Rare german postwar TV

Look what I found on ebay yesterday. Unfortunately the price has gone extremely high.

A translation (of sorts):

They offer on a rare original TV equipment (?) , 1940-1960 admit of the company Loewe Opta (Opta specially G.m.b.H. Duesseldorf) type 9153 GW Rhine gold from numerous radio receivers zw. The housing of which the technology surrounds is more veneer from original nut tree. Easy repair to individual places, and/or small delaminations of the veneer. The glass/Plexiglass which the image plane protects is in an almost new condition, naturally original! The housing sits on 4 mobile metal rollers. Power cord was cut off, from there no function test, inner feelings seems absolutely completely! The measurements: Height: approx. 106.5 cm Width: approx. 64 cm Deep one: approx. 65 cm Furniture/piece of collecting tank for lover, amateur handicraftsman, collecting tank, for the museum and and… Much fun when offering!!! Sale to Selbstabholer or it is assigned a shipping company at the expense of the buyer. Collection in Gladbeck/NRW. Express sale as tinkering object no function test there is possible. Wonder what a "collecting tank" is. Some suggestion of fishtanking it?

The German of the German text is of very bad style. It is hard to translate. I have tried a translation. I hope my English is better than the German of this German text:

Looks like a cross breeding of the old 30's and 40's style floor console radio/phonos and a TV set. That is, what I'd think a TV set would look like based on the cabinet styles of the 30's to 40's.

Yipes! Eckhard, the Marconiphone 702 ended at $12,234.82. Time to list my HMV900 (an earlier set) on ebay.uk. And it tries to make a picture with a tired CRT, recapped and tuner-subber for NTSC with some H oscillator re-tuning. Who said the dollar is devalued?

That would get 7694 Russian color sets at your current bid for you Eckhard!

I was the Loewe Opta Manufacturer's Rep in New England in the late 90's/early 2000's when they were in the US. They were beautiful to look at, and beautiful performers IF they didn't have service/reliability issues, which they often had plenty.

Finally, they collapsed under their own service issues, combined with the fact they were trying to exist in a world of competing Japanese/East Asian brands "racing to Zero" pricing at retail.

But, when they were working properly...!

Loewe Opta together with Metz has the only television plant here in Germany today. All other German brands were sold to foreign companies.

The Loewe Opta is gone for EUR 2,810.00 = $4,408.

I have never seen before a postwar or prewar tv set on the German ebay which was gone higher than this one.

The set is fitted with a MW43-43, so it was made in the middle 1950s. It is not an early postwar tv set.

Hello Josef,

I know the buyer. He has bought a couple of tv sets from me and has picked them up here. He is a really nice chap and has one of the largest collections here in Germany. But as far as I know, he is not an AK member.
