How Many of You Would Love to See a Movie About an Audio Fanatic??

I just had the realization pop in my head this morning thinking, hey, there has never been a movie or TV Show based on a person who is a new and vintage Audio Fanatic. We all know how hungry we are about something exciting and new, especially us vintage and new audio gurus Any suggestions for a Title? I am going to write a story about a person's particular moment in his life showing how he began his fanaticism with audio(old, new & car stuff) at a young age and then blossom into a well respected General audio buff. Maybe even throw a little love interest in there and competition to make it have some action. What do you guys think?? I would love some feedback on this to help write my story.

The idea has crossed my mind, and the key thing would be to make the hobby clear to the average viewer, because only when they understand the basics can they start to laugh at the excesses.

I think that a workable angle could be: someone who gets into the hobby and whose life gradually gets taken over by an increasingly huge audio system.
As Stan Freberg said: "As you sit shivering at night in your garage...listening to your house."

The angle will be easily understood by anyone who lives with someone who collects anything, and the frustration (and fun) that can come from it.

One scene I have always had in my head is someone who's not an audio nut per se visiting one of the 'high-end' stores of the 80es.
The subdued lighting, the museum-like ambience, the hushed voice and snooty attitude of the clerk, and the bewilderment of the guy who just needs an RCA cable could make for something very funny.

Made-for-cable movie, I should think. I don't think a series could sustain interest for a general audience.

It's not spot on the type of movie you are looking for but High Fidelity w/ John Cusack is good. He's a record store owner that sells actual Recrods. They are kind of music snobs. He has a nice vintage rig in his apartment that makes an appearance once or twice.

I could see a short documentary called "Analog Kids'. Find some youth that are really into vintage and contrast them with the generation ipod.

One scene could be...while Steve Jobs is introducing his next icrap at Mac World, working his groupies into a trance and brainwashing them into their next purchase, our independant thinking heros are scouring the thrifts on Mission and Van Ness.

Let me know if this get off the ground, I have the equip to do film sound and REALLY want to go to SunDance.

Of course, the whole thing is shot on an old Hi-8 videocam from the thrift and audio recorded on my Sony TCD-5 Pro protable cassette using NOS Maxcell XL-II.

I think many of us have had truly weird and unusual encounters in tracking down audio gear and vinyl locally - if some of these could be captured with a video camera, documentary style I think something along the lines of "Roger and Me" or the 1978 documentary about people who bury their pets in a pet cemetary, Gates of Heaven. To quote Roger Ebert about that film...

They say you can make a great documentary about almost anything, if only you see it well enough and truly, and this film proves it.

Story of B&W is interesting, WWII. Love those nautilus 800 series towers...
And the story of Terry Cain of Cain&Cain and how his company was turned down when he was young for not being a 'brand name'. Shops sing a different tune now...
