Pretty funny flick. Lot of cues back to Easy Rider for those who look.

Diabolik, 1968 Mario Bava

Great Comic Book based film by director Bava.

Part Batman (1966 TV show) Part James Bond, all fun.

MST3K did this film too but I watched the regular version.

From the IMDB:

"In psychedelic swinging 60s style, the dreaded thief (and killer) Diabolik wreaks havoc on a generic European country for his own financial gain and amusement. He shares an extravagant underground lair (and a giant bed of money) with his curvaceous, superficial girlfriend...who uses her awesome powers of wig-wearing to help Diabolik kill innocent people and steal billions from the government. Nonetheless, Diabolik is the "hero" of the film because he must face off against bumbling cops and revenge-seeking mafiosos."

Angel-A

Black & White, French with English subtitles. From Director/Writer Luc Besson who also directed 5th Element, Leon: The Professional, La Femme Nikita and wrote Transporter 2.

I thought it was very good.

Waking Ned Devine
One of my alltime favorites as just a nice, good fun happy movie to watch. We had lost our DVD copy so I had to order another one and it just came in so the wife and I got our "fix" in the other night. A great flick with great soundtrack.

Downfall (2004 German-made movie)

Wow, is this a great World War II movie.

It covers Hitler's last days in the bunker in Berlin.

Don't fear the german language and english subtitles, it is easy to follow the subtitles.

This movie is riveting, and the sound is incredible (allied bombing gets closer and louder as the movie goes on).

Rent this DVD.

Cheers, Snade

Snade,

'Downfall' is amazing. I'm a WW2 buff, so I'm particular about who plays Hitler on-screen (as sick as it sounds.) You really get the impression Bruno Ganz knew his portrayal would be one for the ages.

Very strong stuff about a period that, sadly, is being forgotten way too fast by many young people.

This plus the director's cut of 'Das Boot' would make for a fine, looooong double bill of 'the German side of things' in WW2.

C.

"Rio Bravo"

A John Wayne as sheriff movie.

The gunslinging stuff was very gripping but the singing by Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson seemed soooo out of place! The romantic subplot was pretty stupid too.

Again, the gunslinging reminded me of urban warfare in Iraq at times.

The other day at my friends house we watched the new Futerama(sp?) movie. i'de give it a . It was great.

I also recently watched A Knights Tail. Apart from the naked butt on a 123" screen I would give the movie a .

Recent selections:

Superbad, a 70's teen sex comedy for the new millenium, very funny, as is just about everything Judd Apatow touches.

Rescue Dawn, great true POW movie set in Vietnam 1965, Christian Bale gives another fantastic performance.

Some tedious overlong Pirate movie with Johhny Depp, I think there was a 3 in the title, some good scenes with a lot of filler. (Keith Richards was great however and needed little make up to play his role)

The golden compass. A VERY dark "kids" movie that I thought was not bad.

The last Pirates of the Caribbean. The worst movie I have seen in ages..
