Sony 8-301w on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/1961-SONY-FIRST-...QQcmdZViewItem
Kinda sad looking, but perhaps someone will restore it. Sandy, if you don't already have one of these, this one is a little closer to you than the left coast

Its all there, including the oh-so-often missing chrome trim. It just looks dirty, nothing a little soap and water couldnt clean up.

Yeah, you're right. About every single solitary one of these guys I've seen come up looks like it was run over by the German Army in bare feet. Funny, too-IIRC, these little guys were pretty expensive-You'd think they woulda had better treatment. But I also seem to remember that like about every "First one there is" product, they were NOT too reliable, maybe a lot of 'em died early, & then rambunctious kids got hold of 'em & "woolled" 'em to death... They were too expensive to toss, & back then people didn't toss things as quickly as they do today, but nobody really knew how to work on 'em, either. So there they sat in a closet, until the aforementioned brat found 'em, & proceeded to Have His Way w/the poor little guy...Just a thought.

Years ago when something like a tv or radio broke, if it got replaced, it went into the closet under the premise of "someday I'll get it fixed". Even a non working tv was considered too valuable to be thrown in the trash. I still feel this way. When my Sony 5-303 stopped working, I took it off the display shelf and put in the case and am just now getting to work on it.
