Anyone remember an '81 Sony KV1946R?

A lady called me yesterday in response to my "free TV pickup" ads. She had 3 sets: A cheap Konka 13", A GE spacemaker TV/VCR combo w/ missing tape door, and an '81 Sony KV1946R. This TV is in a wooden case and is remote. The tuner is one of those 14 position types where you push a little button and it searches channels for each position. I fired the set up and the grey scale was off, the convergence was horrible, and there was very weak and buzzing sound. I adjusted the Hstat control and got the convergence better. The CRT (520RB22) was weak so it "cleaned & balanced" it with my B&K 480 tester. The set now has a decent picture but the CRT life test is not that great. There is also an HV leak (hiss) coming from the Hstat HV block. I was able to get the sound back by playing with the coils in the sound IF circuit. The case is fairly beat up and the metal speaker grille is missing. I'll probably give it to a friend of mine so he can get a $ or two at the flea market. I would probably keep it if the CRT and cabinet were better. I just thought I'd run it past you guys to see if maybe you'd encountered this model before. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.

BTW, I got another call from someone having 4 sets to give away. They said one was a console that was old as dirt. Another lady out in the country said she had 6 or 8. She said they were all a collection of sets that had gone out over the years. So, maybe I'll get something OLD (maybe with VACUUM TUBES inside).

I have this set in a spare bedroom. Mine suffers a bit with pincushon and convergence. It does have the original full working remote. I picked this up for $5 a couple of years ago. What I like most about this set is the red. Very deep, unlike all of the newer Sony's I've seen which tend to look more orange than red.

Gotta love those ads. I have a "hobbyist seeks" ad at work that is proving to be a windfall.....

Good karma to ya.
