Jericho of Scotland Yard (BBC). Mrs. Wiggy and I really enjoy that series.

I saw "Resident Evil: Extinction" this past weekend. While not remotely Academy Award material and you like that kinda thing, it was fairly not stop eat people/kill the zombie entertainment.

I can never get enough of Milla Jovovich. If they make one more sequel I just might!

"Stardust"

Took my 11 y/o daughter and one of her friends Sunday.

For a fairy tale romantic/adventure/comedy, I actually enjoyed it. However, it had the obligatory "sweetheart gay" scenes although this was firmly tongue in cheek with Robert De Niro mocking Johnny Depp's pirate roles.

Fun, family entertainment.

You would probably like Planet Terror then.

"Letters from Iwo Jima"

Very good. Well, acted, well shot, and thoughtful, just as we come to expect from Eastwood.

I did have a bit of an issue with the zealotry of many of the Japanese compared to the rationalism of the lead character, Saigho (??). Either he was too "normal" or many of the others were a bit too caricature and over the top. Then again, the Japanese culture is literally a world apart from ours, so perhaps Saigho was too "Americanized".

Just finished "X-men III: The Last Stand". Usually superhero special effects are just blah. This time, though, I just sat there in awe. Very, very good.

"Hot Fuzz".

Better movie then it had a right to be. Something for everyone, Buddy Movie, Cop Movie, shoot-em-up. Sort of Local Hero meets Star Chamber meets Lethal Weapon. With just a touch of Dirty Harry.

I saw The Kingdom on sunday....it was ok...Great action at the end, but not a terribly insightful movie....typical Michael Mann...shallow but nice visuals/

I needed a good laugh the other day, so I put in a movie that might as well be the funniest of all time! BLAZING SADDLES! With Mel Brooks tickling the funny bone I needed more, so in went SPACEBALLS then I finished the marathon with YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.

Can't believe I had never seen "The Big Lebowski"! On a buddy's suggestion, rented it this past Sunday. Absolutely one of the funniest flicks I've ever seen! John Goodman is a riot!!

Into the Wild.

I was in Boston last week, movie came out with limited release, knew it wouldn't be in Baltimore for a while, so I took it in.

Enjoyed it. Some who read the book judged the young man as naive or foolhardy, if you were of that opinion this movie is not for you.

And Kristin Stewart is hot.

"Ride the High Country"

Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea, Warren Oates and a cast of other classic Western staples. Sam Peckinpah's 2nd film. Randolph Scott's last, McCrea's 2nd last.

Believe it or not, my first Randolph Scott film, but it's a goody.

Catch it on TCM if you can
