My Favorite was the Black Eagle ... He was the original Zoro of silent films..
Public television years ago used to play his movies .... I liked the episode where a host kept a bear chained in the basement and would send guests down to let them pick out their own bottle of wine....... CHOMP !!! .....

Seven Samurai.
Yojimbo. The Hidden Fortress. The Exterminating Angel. le chien andalou. Spellbound. Lifeboat. Metropolis. Masculin et Feminin. The Grand Hotel. The Third Man. All my most favorite movies were B&W. It's a real challenge to make B&W that looks good, and when it does it's amazing. |

"The Third Man" was set in Vienna in 1949. It was a moody film noir about postwar Vienna. The most remarkable thing about it was its use of zither music for the theme. Orson Welles starred in it, IIRC.
