Trash find, not exactly a TV... but has transistors.

Often if I'm going to bike for exercise, I figure I might as well do it on trash night... Then I come back with my air-conditioned car and pick it up, lol.

Last Friday I found this:

Cosmetically, it looks great. I knew this was from the era where Sony made good stuff, so I figured I should save it from the garbage truck.

Is it worth eBaying?

This is almost certainly off-topic for a TV forum, but I gotta say that's a pretty cool find-- those 4-channel discrete quad open reel decks don't seem to be very common in general, much less finding one in the trash!

Nice find. Brings back memories. The 'quad' craze blazed briefly in the mid '70's and quickly died. The only people who made any money from it were magazine and book publishers. I still have a CD-4 decoder -- NIB -- from a cover shoot; last I looked a few years ago, it isn't worth much in dollars, but the 4-discrete-channels-from-one-record-groove technology is neat. (can't connect all this to vintage TV either, but couldn't resist venting a little.) [update: I see Audio did a test report on this model summer of '72.]

Steve Martin:
"Then I got the quad system with the FOUR speakers! It sounds like crap, too!"

I do think that would be fun to play with. You know, I looked at this thread yesteday and last night I dreamed about reel-to-reel recorders though I think the ones in the dream were all branded Zenith. And still, I haven't found a way to make it on topic exactly...

I posted it here because I've never even been in any of the other forums, except the TV forums. Didn't want it to be seen as a 4-sale ad, just wanted to know if was worth keeping... Sounds like no, lol.
