That was still before the big box stores got popular.
It seemed in this area, the decline of the smaller dealers started in the early to mid-80's. Sears only sold their own brands, K-mart and Target only sold makes that were less popular. Then came Kennedy & Cohen, American and later Best Buy and some others that didn't survive. |

Some of those sets look like GE twelve or thirteen inch models. I used to love checking out the newest TV sets in stores years ago. Once flat panels came out I lost interest. I don't even like to be near the TV displays these days because the digital circuitry causes varying delays in the sound between models. When they are all on at once it sounds like a cacophony.

Ha, never heard them called that before.
They're impractical to me because they render the window opening just about useless otherwise. Besides, they seem to only be popular for those who don't maintain their properties, at least around here, yech. |
