I recapped one of these some time ago but couldn't remember the details so I just went out and looked at a spare chassis I have in the garage.
After seeing it I remember just recapping it without removing anything except the CRT, there's plenty of room on the back side of the board. I would take some good pictures before starting just in case a wire does get broken but really one of the easiest sets to work on in my opinion since there's so little to it.
