Unhappy Recycle a USA-made GE?

Please tell me why I should not recycle a Thomsen/Indianapolis GE i really need room for all the tube stuff I have been getting While I can use it, nobody wants it.
Its a 27" CTC149, made in October 1988 has its remote and manual, channel 91 switches it to the composite video input. It works OK, but shows its age.

Yesterday I took it to SA and tried to donate it. There were sets 13" and smaller on shelves and all the larger sets were gone.
They also placed an age limit on what they will take. Its too old. If you look at CL, its full of BPC sets as good as or better than this one, free.

I would keep it but its become a low set on the totem pole. I really hate to do it, there are many (post CTC203 RCA's) much more worthy of being recycled.
