So does this mean the KV-7010 is new for the '69 model year? (magazine article dated 12-68)... If so, that's newer than I thought it was. I was thinking '67, as I remember seeing a Sony service manual dated late '66. Or did they run it for several years, and the article showed up late in the production? I doubt that, as Popular Mechanics usually is ahead on that stuff.

My dad got me one at Hammacher Schlemmer in NYC in Fall '69. It gave excellent service up until '90 or so, & quit. I sent it to an AKer 3-4-5 yrs ago,he was sposed to fix it, & haven't heard from him or seen it since. I wish he would have at least sent it back..I don't even remember his name. I THINK he lived in the Midwest.

Those are very rare, and I'd urge you to pursue. He probably has it sitting on a shelf. Although this isn't the TV classified threads, let me say I'd pay well for one of those in decent physical shape. Maybe if you get a chance, you can find it by searching the members list?

All I remember is his name was Darryl, Darrell, or Darrin...Beyond that, I ain't got a clue. Another AKer had sent him an early color set, got the same treatment, & hired an investigator to "rescue" his set & mine...He got his back, but I didn't...That was about the time I had my stroke/knee problems, & I sorta had my mind on "other" things...And before I knew about Terry, 75 miles away in Knoxville...Shit, I think I could tell The Mighty Valdez to go to Terry's, & it would do it on its own...(grin) But I WOULD like to get my '7010U back...
