Just picked up a Sony KV-1200U
Hey guys
I just got this set from a guy here for free! Have not tested it yet, but he said it works.. It's preety clean and free of scratches.. And he said he has had it for 15 years and it came from the orig owner who had it since new. The guy was blown away when I told him it was from 1969 or so.. The set has had very little use from what he said. This makes 3 Sony's have added to my collection (well 4 if you include my wonderful and glorius KV-36XBR800 POS) How much older is this set from my KV-1220U? Heres the add. Not sure how long it'll be on here http://sacramento.craigslist.org/zip/1383718822.html Thanks! |
Crappy... CRT is tired... Hey im sure this has been brought up before.. Can you "wake up" the gun with 8v like a stardard CRT? how do you go about connecting a sencore to the CRT? I know the pinout has to be different... It has one gun right?
|
What Sencore do you have? The CR-70 has a socket that goes to Sony tubes. And if you do get it hooked up, the 8v method will help wake it up. If that doesn't work, they respond well to the restore function, at least on a CR-70. Good luck Shawn! Those are cool and rare little gems.

Yeah it's a cool lil set.. It worked for like 10 minutes then tripped the CB. Probably a bad HOT. You can hear a high whine for a sec after resetting it.
This SCR is the 2SC1114 that is perched on top of the CRT screwed to the upper frame right? Oh and it is a CR-70. Think im missing the sony socket. |
Excellent find! Is that one of the first Trinitrons? Seems like I have seen that model number before in refference to very early Sony color TV's in the USA.
I recently rescued a Sylvania 15 inch portable from a certain dismal fate. It is on right now, and has a great picture. Some small issues, such as a globar needed, convergence, etc. It was exposed to limited rain, but seems no worse for wear. Still looking for a CTC-19! (one can hope....) Kevin |
It's one of the first but not the first. I believe the first was a KV-7000U or something like that.
Hey what are these christmas tree lights hanging on the CRT neck board. 2 of them are broken. This probably is loading down the PS. |

Yes sir, it uses a 3AT2 HV rectifier tube.

If these spark gaps became disconnected, would this kick out the CB?

Too bad, it had a really nice picture before. :sigh: |
I have a KV-1200 sitting around... Has a bad HV divider block. It's mint condition, so I plan to get the block for it some time, and get it running. The KV-1200, 1210, and 1220, as far as I know, are all the same years; 1969-71-ish?; bottom line black plastic case to top of the line with wood case and twin grilles. They were predated by the KV-7010, and possibly the KV-9000u.

Oh ok I see, I bet the cause is most likely a shorted filter cap or a bad rectifier diode. Those are about the only things I can think of that would do this.
|
Nice old Sony.... I was wondering when they released there first color sets good luck with it.
