6300 ohm resistor
 

Anyone have a 630ts, or clone of, parts chassis? I need the large 4", 6300 ohm
resistor found in the HV cage.

Unless someone has one used to offer, the part is pretty much unobtainium. :(
You may try to make one via 3 power resistors 50w 5.3k +500 + 500, but the 5.3k in large sizes seem to be hard to find, closest I have found so far, is 5.6k, this may be close enough in this case.

Yes, they were, and are a high failure rate part. I think I've had to replace that resistor in every 40s Admiral chassis I've worked on.

what has me confused is, when I look at the RCA 630ts specs for the part, it says 20w, but when I look it up for my FADA it says 50w, did they just improve on the weakness of the 20w part?
and that's perhaps why my resistors have held up?

Yep, I have noticed several brands used 50w, others 20w....
A workaround is always possible...

Nice find. The original does have a couple taps though. I believe for adjusting width or linearity.

because it needs to have taps at 5.3k &500 &500 but the over all resistance is 6300.

IMHO, it would be unwise to use a fixed value for that resistor, as you would lose the ability to adjust horizontal linearity, for example, my FADA 895 has it tied to one of the center taps.

I didn't realise it had taps.

Here's a bad original. I believe it's that green corrosion that kills them.
