Help me identify this old B&W Sanyo
 

Here is a little project i am working on, sadly the label at the back has been torn of so i cant identify the model of this tv. i would very much be able to have it identified so i could search for a service manual/schematic.
Excuse the dirt inside, this was prolly the first time it was ever opened

Also some of the tubes might be in the wrong place since i forgot to write down where they should go when i pulled them out to search for replacements(sorry im kind of a novice at this :))

Some kind of number at the main circuit board.

See if you can find any date codes and a stamped chassis number somewhere on the metal framing. That PC board number won't be much help..

At least if you can narrow down the date then it would be easier to do some Sams hunting and go from there.

I can only guess at this point that it's an early 70s Hybrid set (tubes and transistors)

On the PCB, that looks like a date code, possibly 59th week of 1970?

i am going to ask the orginal owner when it was purchased and also going to photograph each number i find around the tv, thanks for replying :)

That set was not built for the NTSC market, so won't be any Sams coverage on it. When I first saw the picture, I knew it wasn't a set that I was familiar with. There was a metal plate on the back that stated the model number. Sanyo sets sold in this country used a combination damper and horizontal output tube. That set isn't that old. It was toward the end of the tube era.

Aahh...would have had a 33GY7 or most likely a 38HE7 tube in it..:scratch2:

Do non-NTSC sets still use VHF-UHF tuners?

I have three multi-standard sets in my collection. They all have UHF-VHF tuners. IIRC, Britain is all UHF and the rest of europe uses both.

i talked to the orginal buyer and she says that it was bought in 1974 and behold..... she also found the orginal instruction manual with the modelnumber !

its a Sanyo 17-p60u or 17-p6ou depending on how you read it, i am going to pick up the manual later this week for some more investigations.


before this talk with the owner i identified most of the tubes that supposed to go into the tv and took some more pictures of different parts and numbers.

The tube in question is a 30AE3 damper. The other tubes and their uses are: 18GV8, vert osc & output, 16A8, audio output & 1st amp, 9A8 horiz osc & afc, 25E5 horiz output, 15DQ8, video output & sync. These entries are the most common uses of the tubes. Panasonic used a lot of these tubes in their hybrid color sets, before the all solid state sets.

So that isn't an optical illusion (if nj7p is correct) this set actually uses an octal HOT? Remarkable.

The mid-60's Panasonic sets used that tube as well. I have a NOS 25E5 tube with the Arvin branding. I think they built that set to use the tubes readily available in Europe, as the Sanyos sold in the USA had tubes that were commonly available here.

That's a very interesting set, a newer model that uses a 25E5 tube.

FWIW, the Sansui 1000 reciever used four 25E5's for the push-pull audio out.
