Ah, yes...a television show about trailer-trash. Now that's entertainment!
Eric H 10-07-2012, 02:41 PM I've heard about this show beyond snippets and have no interest in seeing it, where is child protective services when you need them? If this isn't exploiting a child I don't know what is.
How do they Copyright this show, does the term "Intellectual Property" even apply here?
Seems like the perfect show for Wal-Mart to sponsor.
Sandy G 10-07-2012, 05:20 PM Honey Boo-Boo will likely be squeezin' out puppies on her own in about 10 years, & the sad cycle continues...Typically, the people who tend to be attracted to these "Toddlers 'n' Tiaras" crap are the types who can afford it the LEAST...I knew a kid at work who was whole-hog into this...He was a janitor at the plant where I worked, he made little better than burgerflipper wages, yet would take off Thurs-Sunday, he & his wife would drag their l'il dumplin' ALL OVER to these Gala Events. They were EXPENSIVE, too, like $1k-1500 for one. I don't know how they afforded it-The wife didn't work. But I wasted all my money on old radios, TVs, guns, cars & coins, so I can REALLY talk, I guess..
jstout66 10-08-2012, 05:23 AM Sandy.... I swore I would never watch it, as the commercials for it disgusted me. I flipped on TLC when they were having a marathon, and it sucked me in like a bad train wreck. Before I knew it, 3 hours had passed, and I was staring at the screen in slack-jawed amazement......
Sandy G 10-08-2012, 06:04 AM I honestly don't know whether to laugh, cry, be disgusted...Or be afraid...Be Vewwy, Vewwy Afwaid...
AiboPet 10-08-2012, 07:10 AM The name alone makes me not even wanna GLANCE at it.....But I watch boring factual stuff. Saw some thing last night where they crashed a Boeing 727-200 (retired), just for the LAWLS and to get the crash data from dummies and cameras...then a Mythbusters where they tested if the girl floating on that door from the Titanic (in the movie)...would have survived. Also, how fast that Caprio guy would turn into an Otter Pop hanging in the water like that :-P
Sandy G 10-08-2012, 09:55 AM I DVR'ed the 727 crash..THAT was pretty neat... I'm surprised they didn't try to do it to a 747, or one of the more modern planes.
AiboPet 10-08-2012, 02:31 PM Nawwww.....Glad they did this with a broadly retired aircraft. My only concern was exactly the problem that DID present itself....The stall speed of an aircraft with the 727's odd center of gravity (engines in back..CANNOT fly slow), and the top speed of a Cessna Skymaster. These were not at all wise choices in aircraft that had to stay within range of a little Futaba style RC controller.
The Mythbusters thing...was simply on after that. I have a bad habit of falling asleep to the TV....so this Mythbuster thing was JUST interesting enough to be interesting, but not so much I was upset to fall asleep sometime during. The "regular" TV in the bedroom is a 23" Sammy LED set....with a sleep timer :-P
Sandy G 10-08-2012, 04:11 PM Uhh, yeah...Anybody who knows anything about flying knows that most of these little piston-engines prop planes just DON'T fly fast enuff to keep up w/a jet...And why they chose an APPARENT fixed-gear Pushme-Pullyu Skymaster is even more puzzling..The retractable models are somewhat faster. The disparity in flight speeds was was helped sell KC-135 tankers, initially... The prop tankers the Air Force had were fine for B-17s, B-29s, B-50s, but when the B-47s & B-52s came on line, the top speed of the prop tankers was just about the same as stall speeds on the jets...Not a good combination when you have one aircraft full of volatile avgas, & the other possibly full of bombs, maybe even nukes... The AF soon wised up & bought KC-135s, which are still used today, 50 odd years later.
ChrisW6ATV 10-12-2012, 06:47 PM Whatever this "Honey Boo Boo" thing is, I have never even heard of it, and I am very thankful for that, after reading the comments here. I probably never heard of it because I only use an antenna for TV programming. Sandy, I thank you for providing me with another reason to not even THINK of subscribing to a pay-TV service.
AiboPet 10-16-2012, 09:53 PM I pretty much HAVE to have cable....or succumb to the silly dish thing and join all the friends that moan about whatever stupid thing DirectTV did to their lineup lately. COX cable has been generally cooperative and stable for the 20 years or so I been on it. In San Diego.....using an antenna pretty much means watching everything in Spanish...especially in a flat where you can't be that creative with an antenna.
I watch almost ZERO programming on the major networks....just the Discovery, TLC and History sorta stuff I can't really watch without "extended basic" cable. I'm not the sort to sit around watching sports on Sunday. I'm more likely at a local racetrack doing hotlaps with friends who also don't do the American wannabe sports thing every Sunday.
Dude111 10-17-2012, 01:14 AM If you had Any Doubt That our civilisation is on a 4-G power dive into Oblivion, that the Apocalypse is CERTAINLY upon us, the Balloon is about to Ascend on High, then watch-If you dare- "Honey Boo Boo Child", sit back & wait for the fast-approaching End. Things have gotton so bad its scary!!
AiboPet 10-17-2012, 08:26 AM JUST saw last night on some other show just who or WHAT this "honey boo boo" thing is. That squashy little girl with the foul mouth and extremely contrived (rehearsed) precocious behavior?? Dunno what show I saw her on. Likely one of the gossip things that came on after The Big Bang Theory. Saw this (not so) little girl WADDLING up to TRY and get up on a barstool for some sort of intervue. As soon as they showed her face turning around like Linda blair to face the audience, I let out a Chris Tucker "Oh HALE NO!!".... and IMMEDIATELY turned the channel to something less disturbing (Likely the Nails-on-a-Chalkboard Network)
Is this now some sort of modern poster child ?
NO....will NOT be watching that, whatever or wherever it is.
We are now not far at all from "OW! My BALLS!" show that you see on the movie IDIOCRACY
Those shows are also focusing on her moo-cow mother who weighs in close to 350# and is proud of it.
Sandy G 10-17-2012, 08:50 AM I guess shows like this-And Springer- are there for the rest of us, when we're feeling sorry for ourselves, to watch & say, "Well, my life IS Shit, but at least I'm NOT as bad off as THOSE fool-azzes are..."
AiboPet 10-18-2012, 07:13 AM LOL.....I remember Springer, but from WAY back when this was a very odd show and was actually pretty funny.
They would do all this stupid stuff like invite ALL the ex girlfriends to a big feast on a big long table......and of course right in the middle of the table was a big huge whole fish, a big messy cake, a bunch of pies and a big 'ol basket of blueberries...and NO plates or silverware. You just sit there watching and waiting for the innevitable moment one girl grabs the big fish by the tail to swing it at some other girl :-P
Back when you watched each one just waiting for a brawl to break out....maybe late '80s ??
That Jerry Springer show USED to stand out and get your attention....because I think that was sort of the beginning of that silliness. Now I guess you can play hookie from work and watch like twenty different weird things like this all afternoon. I was sad to see that Maury Pouvich (spelling?) has turned to some sort of paternity testing and lie detector show. He used to present some pretty good social topics with "valid" guests. I guess daytime TV now just caters to the unemployed. It's actually quite hard to find something intelligent to watch during a weekday afternoon if you are home sick.

What does 4g even mean? i think people just like bigger numbers :D
also hip-hop/RAPCRAP more like RATCRAP :D :thmbsp:
snelson903 10-18-2012, 11:25 AM iv never hurd of that show either ,i made it a rule yrs ago not to waste brain storage space on crap thats put on some tv stations,[ most now ] or sit through advertisments . i cant sit and watch something like the kar-trash-eins ,or news that dont report on a subject, but they are journalist now [ story tellers ] that say the samething as the other guy in there network even they get something wrong they all pass on the wrong info like robots , i can go on but whats the point .
Sandy G 10-18-2012, 11:58 AM Hehehehehe...Kinda glad to see that I'm NOT the only reactionary fussbudget stinkpot touchhole who ISN'T wowed by all the shibboleths of Our Moderne Culture... There was another show I watched a time or 2-"Big Rich Texas", in which impossibly rich, yet terminably unhappy Texas housewives stood around & whined, bitched, & complained about how TERRIBLE their lives were...I feel most of us here could prolly live quite HAPPILY for QUITE a while off of what one of these maladjusted slags spends at the Beauty Salon in a couple of months...I thought they were pretty terrific looking gals, they looked to be 35-50 or thereabouts, but were all still pretty much tryin' to pass for 18-25...They, to me, are much WORSE than the Springer/Honey Boo-Boo set, these people were supposed to be the Creme De La Creme, w/all their money, power, connections, & education, yet they were nearly as base & vile as the "Po White Trash" types...No, they were WORSE than the Honey Boo-Boo set, these people SHOULD have known better...
I love the fact that South Park had a field day over them and that pathetic show.
Eric H 10-18-2012, 11:06 PM Well Sandy, I guess the Beverly Hillbillies is looking pretty good to you now? :D
They are light years classier than Honey Poo Poo.
bandersen 10-18-2012, 11:53 PM I love the fact that South Park had a field day over them and that pathetic show.
That was a brilliant episode :thmbsp:
Sandy G 10-19-2012, 06:22 AM Well Sandy, I guess the Beverly Hillbillies is looking pretty good to you now? :D

Aww, Man ! If we'd only known...There were a LOT of people who would have kicked Paul Henning's butt from here to Callyfornee 'n' back over the "Hillbillies"...But they were absolute SAINTS in comparison to Honey Boo-Boo & Co...There was a LOT to admire in the Clampetts...They were basically kind, nice people-C'mon, don't YOU wish you had an uncle like Jed was ? But there is NOTHING about Honey Boo-Boo I wanna be like...
bandersen 10-19-2012, 10:28 PM Here's just a taste in cartoon form courtesy of South Park. The real deal is much worse

Hmmm, maybe you're on to something there. I've wondered the same thing.
W3XWT 10-31-2012, 07:08 PM Let us be mindful of the purpose things like “Honey Boo Boo”, “Springer”, and some others may actually be serving… anyone remember the movie “Independence Day”? The aliens determined that there was intelligent life on this planet by monitoring our satellite transmissions. Should they monitor “Honey Boo Boo”, “Springer”, et al, the thinking is undoubtedly that the aliens will realize otherwise and determine Earth isn’t worth the trip.
It’s much better to fight an unknown enemy having unknown weapons with the weapons you have than the weapons you’ll never develop.
Sandy G 10-31-2012, 07:33 PM Something that I always found somewhat ironic is that I have spent CONSIDERABLE sums & time into acquiring some of the absolute FINEST radio receivers EVER devised by rhe mind/hand of Man..And WHAT doI do w/it...?!? Try to pick up mealy-mouth Preachers up in Kentucky & Virginia on flea power MW/BCB daytimer low power stations..
Zenith26kc20 11-07-2012, 04:11 PM Honey Boo Boo..... My girlfriend loves it. I told her that it is a good reason for harvesting organs.....
Got a strange look!
