The estimate on that page is much more realistic; I could see paying maybe $100 if I was really into RCA history and had plenty of money & space. I think the engraving, as nice as it is, would be kinda tacky considering it would be in the home of someone of his stature. While employed at Philco in the 50s, I was occasionally dispatched to executive homes to service their TVs.

The President/Chairman had a standard production top line 24" Diamond D, Miss America. I was expecting a TV 123 color set.

A division president was watching a cheap, metal cabinet 16" RCA.

Both required typical repairs, nothing exceptional. Breakdowns were considered routine and no jobs were in jeopardy. It was good politics to make sure the sets were fixed right. Many executives traded out their sets on a yearly basis so they rarely keep them long enough to become troublesome. Many were early production sets. Engineering sometimes rechecked sets before they were delivered to special customers for "field testing".

....... I bet the 50,001th set does not have the emblem on it with the number, so this set is really unique..... you should get it. I can't remember ever seeing one of those sets on ebay before... ever. But I have seen lots of ctc 5's ct100's etc....

If you want to hear about a really high-end custom system then you should go to ARC magazines website and look up an article about Sarnoff's custom house wide built in radio entertainment system. When one of the paper caps blew heads did roll or more accurately RCA stopped making their own paper caps!
