Somehow, I missed this movie. I'd never heard of it, and that's pretty hard to do with a Tom Hanks/Julia Roberts movie. The Mrs. brought it home from the library over the weekend.
It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but I thought Philip Seymour Hoffman as "Gust Avrakotos" was outstanding. After seeing him in that role, I can't imagine another actor in his place.

I just saw it last weekend. I'm a diehard Aaron Sorkin fan, and I liked the film, but it did not have the Sorkin snap and punch that made The West Wing and Sports Night so memorable. I thought after this the same thing I thought after The American President: that Sorkin has no equal in the 30 or 60 minute format, but when he spreads it out over a feature it gets a bit too distilled.
I agree with your thoughts on Hoffman. I have never seen him in anything in which he wasn't fabulous. Even Twister, which was a horrible film.

I watched it, liked it while I watched it, liked it still after it ended, cannot remember a damn thing about it except Tom Hanks & some gal with a giant mouth.

Saw the previews, I did not see anything about the movie that made me want to see it.

A decent movie IMO. As others have said, it's hard to remember it very well even though I saw it last month. Philip Seymour Hoffman's role was memorable though.

Hoffman's character was great, he is on eof the best actors of this generation.
Charlie Wilson: Were you standing at the goddamn door listening to me? How could you even - That is a thick door! You stood there and you listened to me?
Gust Avrakotos: I didn't stand at the door. Don't be an idiot. I bugged the Scotch bottle.
Charlie Wilson: What!
Gust Avrakotos: It's got a little transmitter on it, I've got a little thing in my ear, get past it.
