I now he's fallen from favour a little........but his movies have always been my favorites. Why spend millions on special effects when great dialogue can substitute. Always funny, accurate, and cliche free viewing.

I think one of the biggest downturns in his film output began when Diane Keaton was replaced as leading lady in favor of Mia Farrow. My favorites include: Love And Death(1975) Sleeper(1973) Annie Hall(1977) Manhattan(1979) Stardust Memories(1980) Purple Rose Of Cairo(1985) Hannah And Her Sisters(1986) Crimes and Misdemeanors(1989) Husbands and Wives(1993) Bullets Over Broadway(1995) Mighty Aphrodite(1996) Anything Else(2004?) Sorry,I love talking about Woody Allen! But some friends dragged me to see "Hannah and her Sisters," and I cannot remember a more boring experience at a movie theater. Later, when I saw some of his earlier works, they definitely had some funny bits in them. But I am not from NYC, and I fail to follow the "NYC is the center of all things" kind of humor that only people living in the Five Burroughs seem to get. Nothing against NYC, but since I'm not from there, I don't see it as the center of the universe, and the fact that everyone who lives in Manhattan is in therapy doesn't strike as funny, only sad and pathetic. I don't watch his movies. Nothing personal, they just don't interest me. wineslob 12-21-2007, 10:10 AM I really didn't know too much about Woody Allen growing up - missed most of his movies. Illegal no. Unethical, yes! No crime but just about as slimey as you can get. There was enough evidence of molestation of his children that he was barred from unsupervised visits with his biological son and adopted daughter. The bar for civil issues is lower than the bar for legal ones but evidence is still required. Would you let Woody baby-sit your children? Though, I'll probably not ask. dr*audio 12-21-2007, 10:33 PM An interesting movie to watch is "Wild Man Blues." It's a documentary about the Dixieland Jazz Band that Woody plays in, touring Europe. Soon-Yi accompanies Woody and it really gives an insight into their relationship and his neuroses. Also great concert footage of the band. Snade 12-21-2007, 10:35 PM Manhattan = good. Cosmic 12-30-2007, 11:03 AM I love great, personal filmmaking (Bergman, Ozu). I love intellectual comedy. But I never have been able to enjoy anything by Allen. One of those puzzling things: the man can write; the films look beautiful and yet his on-screen character irritates me to the point where I just want to yell "Shut Up Already!" I'm sure a psychiatrist could explain it to me...:scratch2: Best, C. sampson159 12-30-2007, 11:07 AM from what i gather,he didn t have much to do with the raising of any child. seperate homes, etc,i doubt if he was any kind of a father.i see the point about the situation, however,he was not and is not her blood relative in any way. he is just an old lech who scored a young girl. face it-she was easily accessable. they have remained together for some time now. whow knows, maybe it is love?i think through the whole ordeal,he was given a bad rap. this has nothing to do with his film career. he makes very interesting movies that are enjoyable to watch.i am not going to hang out with him or is he going to be part of my ordinary life.i enjoy him as entertainment only. goraman 12-30-2007, 11:30 AM This is what you said and this is what I am responding to. OOPS! I guess the first one did go.Sorry dread31 12-30-2007, 02:32 PM 1) Was she a minor when the alledged sex acts took place? If so, I would say "Woody is a pedophile". 2) Is she a blood relative (Was it incest?)? If so, then I would say "Woody is sickf**k." 3) Was he married to Mia, when this occured? If so, then I would say "Woody is an adulterer". If the answer to ALL of these questions is NO, hate me if you like, but no crime was committed. Even if the answer to question #3 is yes, then his worst sin is adultery. Immoral, perhaps, despicable to be sure, but not necessarily criminal. A domestic issue at the worst. So, to add my opinion to Goramans response; If she is not his genetic daughter, and she was an adult at the time, then Goraman is correct. And what took place is none of our damned business. If this is the case, then he did NOT "molest his own daughter", far from it. The issue just is not that simple. Do I like his movies? They have their funny moments, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see them. Do I hate him? No. Blindly hating someone over an issue you don't fully understand is a sign of stupidity. Sorry, but it is. And we have too much of that going around.
