Grundig Console Stereo Free for Pickup (D.C. Area)

I have a 1974 vintage "Grundig" console stereo going for free to the first person who will come and pick it up in the D.C. area. It has a turntable, AM-FM Stereo receiver and an 8-track player. The cabinet is pecan veneer on composite board with plastic trim. It's clean and was working when last used by my late father in 1989. As for the size, when picked-up at S.Klein & Co., it fit in my Ford Pinto station wagon with the rear seat folded. As for weight, the cabinet makes this a two-man lift...

The electronics are likely Japanese or Taiwanese, despite the badging. I am certain that this was not a product of the Grundig from the BRD.

Please note that pickup will have to be arranged on a Saturday or Sunday (afternoon only) or weekday evening after 6 PM. If it's not gone by 10/31/13, it goes to the Salvation Army...

Please see the attached photos. If you're interested. PM me.

73,

John

We're only one week away (UTC time) from 10/31... if there isn't a definite taker by then, it's going to the Salvation Army...

I have a Capehart console from the same year that's identical to this one.

Not surprising... the 1970's saw a lot of "badge engineering"! I remember cars like the Pontiac Astre' and Mercury Bobcat being sold in Canada before they ventured south.

Alas, the 1970's also saw a lot of what my colleagues in the U.K still call "bodge engineering"!
